About

Aid Gate Organization (AGO) is a local Iraqi Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was founded in 2014. 9 years ago we began providing assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees, and vulnerable host communities affected by the conflict with the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Since then, AGO has expanded its operations into several governorates in Iraq and is currently partnering with various national and international donors and organizations to extend humanitarian services for vulnerable people in need. AGO's work focuses on durable solutions, livelihood sustainability, social cohesion, protection, good governance, agriculture, and climate action. Our aim? To create a future where all communities are resilient, empowered, green, equal, and peaceful.

Vision & Mission

Our vision is to create a future where all communities are resilient, empowered, green, equal, and peaceful. We envision a society where individuals and groups are empowered to participate in decision-making processes, where resources are used sustainably and responsibly to protect the environment, where everyone has equal access to basic needs and services, and where conflict is resolved peacefully. We strive to work towards this vision through collective action, advocacy, and partnerships with communities and organizations worldwide.

Our mission is to work towards the creation of resilient, empowered, green, equal, and peaceful communities. We seek to achieve this by empowering individuals and communities to participate in decision-making processes, advocating for policies that support sustainable and responsible use of resources, promoting equal access to basic needs and services, and promoting peaceful conflict resolution. Through collaboration with local and national organizations, we strive to build networks of support and action to achieve our vision of a better future for all .

Values

AGO is rooted in its values. The following set of values express our way of working, and our mission, and really represent AGO’s membership of community actors.
Collaboration: We believe that collaboration is key to achieving our vision of a better future for all. We value partnerships and cooperation with diverse organizations and communities to achieve our shared goals.
Sustainability: We believe that sustainable and responsible use of resources is essential to building resilient and green communities. We value the long-term health of our environment and seek to promote practices that will help to protect and preserve it.
Peace: We believe in promoting peaceful conflict resolution and in fostering a culture of peace. We value open and respectful communication and seek to resolve conflicts through dialogue and collaboration.
Humanity beyond identity: We bring “humanity back to humanitarianism” by focusing solely on people and making sure that humanitarian and development responses go directly to the people in need.
Inclusiveness: We recognize the powerful role played by local communities in times of crisis and in development. We want to ensure that silenced voices are heard and that resources and partnerships are equitable and dignified. We believe that diversity and inclusivity are essential to creating resilient, empowered, green, equal, and peaceful communities. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all individuals and groups, regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs.
Agency and Dignity: We believe local people can and should shape humanitarian and development responses with their own ideas, values, lifestyles, preferences, needs, abilities, and desires.
Credibility and Mutual Accountability: We are determined to increase genuine accountability to affected communities, donors, and the public by making the delivery of local and international humanitarian and development responses more transparent. We believe in being accountable to the communities we serve and to our stakeholders. We strive to be transparent in our work and to take responsibility for our actions and decisions.
Independence: While we depend on the support of our partners and donors, we act independently of outside influences. Our leading light is the vision and mission of AGO’s network both regionally and globally.
